Carolyn Meadows

Carolyn Dean Meadows, age 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 8, 2018, surrounded by her family.  She was born on December 31, 1944 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late William and Marion Langford Dean.  In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Dean. She was a dedicated employee to the DuPont Company, retiring in 1999. Carolyn was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she served as secretary to her Sunday School Class.  She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as secretary and was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.  Carolyn enjoyed reading, boating, camping and spending time with her family. Carolyn will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Charles F. Meadows; daughter, Lori L. Stevens and her husband Robert; son, Daniel K. Meadows and his wife Alison; grandsons, Connor and Nathan Stevens; special friend, Janette Henretty of New Castle, DE; several cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Campbell officiating.  Special music will be provided by Ricky Campbell and Danny Cullop.  The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 on Sunday prior to the service. Graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, Delaware.  A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Gracelawn, prior to the burial.   Pallbearers will be Daniel K. Meadows, Robert F. Stevens, Connor M. Stevens, Nathan A. Stevens, Dennis Schmitt and Ralph Satterfield.  Honorary pallbearers are Bud Cullop, Ralph Koefelda, David Hubbert, Randall Meadows, Ralph Greer, and Bob Graybeal.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in Carolyn’s memory be made to Amedisys Hospice, 1500 W Elk Avenue, Suite 202, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their compassion and care.  At other times the family will receive friends at the home, 2369 Waters Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com.
